A group of memecoin enthusiasts erected a 12-foot golden statue of President Donald Trump holding a Bitcoin outside the US Capitol on Wednesday, in a stunt tied to the Solana-based memecoin launch platform Pump.fun.
The statue, unveiled near Union Square on the National Mall in Washington, DC, was livestreamed by organizers who described it as a tribute to Trump’s “unwavering commitment to advancing the future of finance through Bitcoin and decentralized technologies.”
The event coincided with the Federal Reserve’s 25-basis-point rate cut, seen as bullish for risk assets like crypto.
Organizers Tout Trump’s Pro-Crypto Influence
Organizer Hichem Zaghdoudi told local media the statue was meant to “ignite conversation about the future of government-issued currency” and honor Trump’s role in crypto adoption.
“This is a statement,” Zaghdoudi said. “Without the president, we could never have had this mass adoption of Bitcoin and all these institutions buying crypto. This is our thank you to him.”
Trump has openly embraced digital assets, with his presidential campaign heavily backed by crypto donors. His family businesses are also deeply invested in Bitcoin, memecoins, and mining companies, sparking conflict-of-interest debates in Washington.
Statue Made of Foam, Linked to Pump.fun Token
The golden Trump Bitcoin statue, reportedly crafted from extremely hard foam to make it lightweight, was showcased in livestreams where organizers promoted a new memecoin on Pump.fun.
Social media posts showed machines carving the statue’s head and multiple people carrying it into place. Organizers said they hoped Trump would see it, though he was in the UK during the unveiling.

The National Mall as a Stage for Political Art
The National Mall has long been a hotspot for political art and protest statues. This year alone, at least two other Trump-themed statues appeared:
-
“Dictator Approved” (June): An eight-foot golden hand crushing the Statue of Liberty’s crown, protesting Trump’s military parade.
-
Golden Television (June): Featuring Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, criticizing the administration’s stance on releasing Epstein files.
The latest statue, however, marks the first pro-Trump installation tied directly to crypto and memecoin culture.
